  • Career

Moss was a 3 time letter winner for NU in all of his 3 seasons.  Moss spent 2 seasons (1 redshirt season) at Garden City CC in Kansas.  At NU, Moss played in 34 games as a defensive back and punt returner.  As a defensive back, Moss piled up 86 total tackles, which included 56 solo tackles, 36 assisted tackles, and 3 tackles for loss.  He also added 2 sacks, 5 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions.  As a punt returner, Kareem had 42 returns for 356 yards, averaging 8.6 yards per return.  

 

  • 1994 (Senior)

Moss played in all 12 games as a senior, piling up 66 tackles including 3 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.   He had 4 pass breakups and 2 interceptions including 1 in the National Championship game vs. Miami.  Moss was the starting punt returner and returned 31 punts for 234 yards averaging 7.6 yards per return.  As a defensive back and punt returner, Moss was a key factor for the success of the 1995 National Champions. 

 

  • 1993 (Junior)

 After gaining experience his first year at Nebraska in 1992, Moss served as a backup to Barron Miles at left corner in 1993. Moss appeared in 11 games as a junior and had 7 total tackles, and a team-season long 42-yard interception against Colorado State.  He had a season-high two tackles, twice (vs. Kansas State and Missouri).  Listed with Cory Dixon on the No.1 punt return team, Moss returned 11 punts for 122 yards with an average of 11.1 yards per return, with a career and team-season long 52 yard return against North Texas. Kareem played in the Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State and had one solo tackle.  

 

  • 1992 (Sophomore)

One of three first-year players in the Husker secondary (joining Barron Miles and Toby Wright), Moss was the backup at right corner to junior starter John Reece.  He played in all 11 games and tallied 13 tackles, 10 of them solo.  He played against Florida State in the Federal Express Orange Bowl, but did not record any tackles.  

 

  •  Garden City CC (Kansas)

Moss saved a year of eligibility for Nebraska as he redshirted as a freshman at Garden City in 1990, the same school as fellow Husker tight end Eric Alford (1991, 1992).  Moss was leading the Jayhawk Conference in punt and kickoff returns when he broke his leg at mid-season.  He was considered one of the top defensive backs in the leage.  After rehabilitating his broken leg, Moss ran for the Garden City track team and posted a 10.5 best in the 100 meters and a 21.6 in the 200.  

 

  • Spartanburg High School

Moss was an all-state defensive back at Spartanburg (S.C.) High School.  His senior season, he caught six interceptions and scored four touchdowns, one on a 70-yard fumble return, one on an interception, and two on long kickoff returns.  That season he returned 14 kicks for 540 yards.  He helped his team to a sixth-place finish in state.  He then turned his attention to track where he was second in the 1990 state high school track meet in the 200-meter dash, fifth in the 100 meters, and aided his 4 x 100- meter relay team to a gold medal and the 4 x 400 to a fifth-place finish.  He had a 10.48 mark in the 100 meters, a 21.4 in the 200 and he helped his team to a 41.4 time in the 4 x 100-meter relay.  

 

  • Personal

Moss graduated in 1995 as a speech communication major.  An active volunteer, Moss led elementary students in the Best of America School is Cool Jam in the spring of 1994 and was a spokesperson for the VIP Speakers Bureau.  The son of Karen Moss Watson, Kareem has a daughter Kareena Tinise, two brothers, and a sister.  He was born on July 16th, 1972.
