Career

Jeff Lake ended his collegiate career appearing in 38 games, hauling in 10 receptions for 172 yards and two scores. He would sign with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent following the 1998 NFL Draft.

1997 (Senior)

Lake played in every game, starting eight, his senior year as he alternated with Kenny Cheatham at split end. Lake matched the number of catches he made his junior year with four as he finished the year with 40 yards. His season-long grab coming in the Big 12 Championship game against Texas A&M when he hauled in a 26-yard pass from Scott Frost. Lake played in the FedEx Orange Bowl against Tennessee, but did not record any receptions.

1996 (Junior)

Lake played in all 12 games as a backup to starter Brendan Holbein. Lake had four receptions for 101 yards, including a career-best 51-yard touchdown reception against the Oklahoma Sooners. That catch was the longest for any Husker on the season. He also had one catch for 12 yards against Kansas State, one for 31 yards against Kansas and a seven-yard grab against Oklahoma, giving him a career-best 2-58 on the day. Lake had two catches for 27 yards in the FedEx Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech, including a long of 17 yards.

1995 (Sophomore)

Lake played in nine games in 1995, as a second-team split end behind Reggie Baul. Holbein and Lance Brown. He caught one pass on the season, a seven-yard reception in the season opener against Oklahoma State. He did not play against Missouri and Oklahoma. Lake saw action in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl against Florida.

1994 (Freshman)

Lake played in five games and caught one pass, a 24-yard touchdown against Pacific.

1993 (Redshirt)

Lake redshirted his first year at Nebraska.

Lakeview High School

Lake earned all-conference honors in both football and basketball. He was the Lakeview Athlete-of-the-Year, graduated fourth in his class and was on the honor roll every semester. Lake earned three letters in football, two in basketball and four in track.

The son of Bob and Ellen Lake, Robert Jeff was born on Sept. 6, 1974.
