Career

Jeff Ogard finished his collegiate career with three letters, ample experience and the size to make it at the next level. Ogard wouldn't be drafted in the 1997 NFL Draft, but he would sign a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers.

1996 (Senior)

Ogard took over the starting role on the defensive line for departed All-Big Eight tackle Christian Peter his senior year. Playing in every game, Ogard had 34 tackles (11 solo), four tackles for nine-yards lost, one sack resulting in a six-yard loss, three pass breakups and two quarterback hurries. Both of his QB hurries resulted in interceptions for the Blackshirt defense. In the 1996 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech, Ogard had five tackles (four solo).

1995 (Junior)

Ogard served as backup to All-Big Eight defensive tackle Christian Peter in 1995. Playing in every game, Ogard had seven tackles (two solo), one tackle for a one-yard loss against Arizona State, two pass breakups (one that he intercepted and returned 19 yards against Oklahoma State) and one quarterback hurry causing an incomplete pass. Ogard's best tackle day was two assisted tackles against Arizona State. He had one quarterback hurry in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl against Florida.

1994 (Sophomore)

Playing in three games as a reserve tackle, Ogard had three tackles (one solo), including one tackle for a one-yard loss against UCLA and earned his first varsity letter.

1993 (Freshman)

Ogard played in four regular-season games against Colorado State, Missouri, Iowa State and Oklahoma, but did not have any tackles.

1992 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Ogard redshirted his first year in Lincoln.

St. Paul High School

A two-way all-state lineman for Coach Russ Baker at St. Paul High School, Ogard was the defensive captain of the Lincoln Journal-Star Super-State team and member of the Omaha World-Herald all-state team for two years at defensive tackle. He recorded 79 tackles for a 6-3 team in 1991. He played in the 1992 Nebraska Shrine Game. A three-sport standout for the Wildcats, Ogard was a two-time Class B state champion as a heavyweight wrestler and a 57-4 shot putter.

Personal

The son of Roger and Annette Ogard, Jeff was born on Sept. 1, 1973.
