Career
Eric Anderson started the final 38 games of his Nebraska career. He was a three-year starter at right tackle and earned two first-team all-conference awards and third-team All-America honors his senior season. Anderson signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 1998 NFL Draft. He was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
1997 (Senior)
Anderson started every game at right tackle for Nebraska for the third straight season. He earned third-team All-America honors as he helped power the Husker to national titles in rushing, total offense and points. He totaled 104 pancakes on the season with a career-best 17 in the overtime win at Missouri. Anderson was one of three starters on the 1997 offensive line from Nebraska (Jon Zatechka and Fred Pollack).
1996 (Junior)
Anderson was one of three returning starters on the offensive line, but the only player starting in the same position as assigned in 1995. Anderson assisted the team to a No. 4 final ranking in rushing (291.9 yards per game); No. 4 in scoring offense (42.7 points per game) and with his teammates allowed just 10 sacks. Anderson had a season-high and team-best 15 "pancakes" against nationally-ranked Kansas State and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors from both the Associated Press and the Big 12 coaches.
1995 (Sophomore)
One of four new starters on the line, Anderson proved to be an adequate replacement for 1994 Outland Trophy winner Zach Wiegert. Anderson started all 12 games at right tackle and had an outstanding season earning first-team all-conference honors from the league coaches and honorable-mention All-Big Eight status from the Associated Press. He assisted the Huskers to their 10th rushing title under Osborne, paving the way for 399.8 yards per game, 60 yards more than the 1994 national championship team.
1994 (Freshman)
Anderson missed most of spring camp with a stress fracture in his ankle, but played in every game including the 1995 Orange Bowl as a backup to Outland Trophy winner Zach Wiegert at right tackle. Anderson helped lead NU to its 11th NCAA rushing title, averaging 340.0 yards per game. He was also a member of the PAT and field goal teams.
1993 (Redshirt)
A scholarship athlete, Anderson redshirted his first year at Nebraska.
Lincoln Southeast High School
Anderson played offensive and defensive tackle for 1992 state champion Lincoln Southeast and Coach Chuck Mizerski. A USA Today first-team Bluechip and SuperPrep All-American, Anderson was a two-year all-state pick and was Super-State and All-Nebraska by the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World Herald. He was also the Lincoln Journal Star Defensive Player-of-the-Year and the Omaha World Herald honorary defensive captain. Anderson was a three-year starter, while Southeast posted a 25-8 record in his final three years and won two consecutive state championships. He led the team in tackles with 115 in 1992. Also a shot putter, Anderson placed in the top six at state in 1992. An "A" student, he was an honor roll member. He played for the South in the 1993 Nebraska Shrine Bow.
Personal
The son of Ivan and Sandra Anderson, Eric was born July 16, 1975. Eric earned his bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Nebraska in May 1998.
