Career

Brandt Wade appeared in 19 games throughout his collegiate career. He finished as a member of all three of Nebraska's 1990 national championship teams.

1998 (Senior)

Wade entered his senior season behind left guard James Sherman. Wade started every game as a member of the PAT and field-goal units. He was named to the first-team academic All-Big 12.

1997 (Junior)

Wade tore his posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during spring ball. It did not require surgery, but added Wade to the long list of offensive linemen who missed spring camp. He returned in time for the season and played in five games, plus the 1998 FedEx Orange Bowl against Tennessee, backing up Aaron Taylor and James Sherman at left guard. Wade had nine "pancakes" (knock-down blocks) on the season, including three against Akron and two each against Oklahoma and Iowa State. An excellent student, Wade was named to the honorable-mention academic All-Big 12.

1996 (Sophomore)

Wade played in five games in 1996 as a reserve right guard. He did not play in the last four games. Wade eared first-team conference academic honors and was named to the inaugural Brook Berringer Citizenship team.

1995 (Freshman)

Wade played in four games backing up Aaron Taylor at left guard. He assisted the Huskers to their 10th NCAA rushing title and the Huskers' second consecutive national championship.

1994 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Wade redshirted his first year in Lincoln.

Platteview High School

Wade was an all-class, all-state lineman and a USA Today honorable-mention pick for Platteview and Coach Dennis Mahaney. He had 74 total tackles as a senior, including seven sacks, four fumble recoveries and forced three fumbles. The first-ever Platteview grad to earn a football scholarship from Nebraska, he is the second Division I scholarship player in his school's history. Wade was also the Class B state heavyweight wrestling champion in 1994, as he posted a 34-0 record. He finished second at the state championships in 1993. Wade earned a school record 12 letters (four each in football, golf and wrestling) and was a three time state qualifier in golf. A 4.0 student, Brandt was a National Honor Society member, a Boys State representative and a Boys National alternate as he finished third in his class. Wade played in the 1994 Shrine Bowl.
