1993 (Junior)
A three-time letterman at free safety, Sedric Collins appeared in five games and recorded three tackles (one solo) for the Big Eight champion Huskers in 1993. The 6-0, 180-pounder from Slidell, La., helped Nebraska to an unbeaten regular season and a trip to the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl national championship game against Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward and Florida State.

Collins played in 14 games during his injury-shortened Husker career.

1992 (Sophomore)
Collins switched from cornerback to free safety and lettered as a backup to four-year starter Tyrone Byrd and Troy Dumas. Collins played in Nebraska’s first five games. He recovered one fumble during the season and snatched his first career interception in NU’s win over Oklahoma State. Unfortunately, he injured his knee on the fourth-quarter pick, which ended his season and required reconstructive surgery (Oct. 27). Nebraska won the Big Eight title and faced Florida State in the 1993 Federal Express Orange Bowl.

1991 (Redshirt Freshman)
Collins played in four regular-season games as a reserve left cornerback. He recorded a pair of assisted tackles to earn his first varsity letter.

1990 (Redshirt)
A scholarship recruit, Collins redshirted in his first season at Nebraska in 1990.

Slidell High School
A four-year starter at defensive back for Coach Wayne Grubb, Collins also played wingback, split end and tight end, while recording 53 tackles (38 solos) as a senior in 1989. He added three interceptions as a senior after hauling in 18 total interceptions over his first three years. He added a pair of fumble recoveries and returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown. He also averaged 38 yards per kickoff return. Collins helped Slidell to a 9-3 record and the second round of the Louisiana Class 4A (second largest) state playoffs in 1989. He was a two-time all-district performer and earned all-state accolades as a senior. An explosive speedster, Collins won the Class 4A 110-meter high hurdle title (14.41) in 1990, after a runner-up finish in 14:04 in 1989.
