1993 (Senior)
Ken Mehlin played the first seven games of the season as a center before switching to right guard for the final five contests, including NU's last-second loss to Florida State in the Orange Bowl national championship game. Mehlin helped pave the way for a Big Red ground game that led the Big Eight and ranked third nationally with 287.9 yards per game. The first-team All-Big Eight offensive lineman also helped the Huskers rank fifth in the nation with 38.3 points per game. A standout in the classroom as well, Mehlin earned second-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. The two-time first-team academic All-Big Eight selection also earned Nebraska's Native Son Award as a senior.

1992 (Junior)
As a first-year starter, Mehlin earned a scholarship at the beginning of his junior season. He was small compared to the rest of the Husker offensive line (weighing 20 pounds less than the average), but he made up for that with speed, strength and determination. He helped lead the Huskers to their third NCAA national rushing title in a four-year span, averaging 328.2 yards per game. The Big Red also led the Big Eight in total offense with 438.2 yards per contest, while ranking second in the nation with 38.8 points per game. Mehlin earned first-team academic All-Big Eight honors and a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII squad.

1991 (Sophomore)
Mehlin lettered as he saw action in four regular-season games as a reserve offensive guard, helping Nebraska win its seventh NCAA rushing title with 353.2 yards per game. He also played against Miami in the Orange Bowl.

1990 (Redshirt)
Mehlin used his redshirt in his second season with the Huskers.

1989 (Freshman)
After walking on, Mehlin started at left guard for the 3-1-1 junior varsity team which averaged 398 yards per game in total offense.

Before Nebraska (Humbolt HS)
Mehlin was a two-time, eight-man all-state player for Coach John James. He played guard on the offensive line, while also playing linebacker on defense. He lettered four times each in football, basketball and track.
