1993 (Senior)
Jim Prevette (pronounced pra-VET) earned his lone varsity letter as a fifth-year senior for the Big Eight champion Huskers in 1993. A backup Mike linebacker behind Mike Anderson, Daren Williams and Doug Colman, Prevette played in five games in his final season at Nebraska, but did not record a tackle. He did help the Big Red to an unbeaten regular season and a trip to the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl national championship game against Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward and Florida State.
Prevette played 12 career games at Nebraska and recorded one solo tackle.
1992 (Junior)
Prevette played four games at strong-side linebacker for the Huskers, recording the only tackle of his career in 1992. He helped Nebraska capture the Big Eight title and earn a spot in the 1993 Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State.
1991 (Sophomore)
Prevette earned his first varsity action by playing three games, but he did not post a tackle.
1990 (Redshirt)
Prevette redshirted in his second season at Nebraska in 1990.
1989 (Freshman)
A walk-on from Hastings, Prevette played for Nebraska’s JV team and recorded two tackles, a fumble recovery and one pass breakup.
Hastings High School
Prevette was a standout running back and linebacker for Coach John Pergi at Hastings High School. Prevette earned honorable-mention all-state recognition as a senior after claiming all-conference honors. He was a two-time letterman.
Personal
The son of Gary and Judy Prevette, Jim was born in Hastings. He was a criminal justice major at Nebraska, graduating in May 1994. A strong student, Prevette was a member of the Dean’s List at Nebraska. He was also a volunteer speaker at the Guide Rock Community Celebration.
