Senior (1993)
A first-team All-Big Eight selection for the Huskers as a senior in 1993, defensive tackle Kevin Ramaekers helped Nebraska to three straight Orange Bowl appearances, including the national championship game against Florida State to close his career.

A three-year letterman for Nebraska from 1991 to 1993, the Norfolk Catholic High School graduate played a major role in the Huskers winning Big Eight titles all three seasons.

Ramaekers started all 11 regular-season games and the Orange Bowl as a senior and produced 48 total tackles, including 17 solos from his tackle spot. He notched four tackles for 17 yards lost, including two sacks for 15 yards. He added 19 quarterback hurries and caused one fumble in his final season. For his career, Ramaekers recorded 92 total tackles, including 27 solos, with five tackles for loss (19 yards) and two sacks (15 yards). He added 25 quarterback hurries and caused two fumbles while recovering one.

He was chosen for induction into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Junior (1992)
After recovering from a torn knee ligament suffered in January during winter conditioning, Ramaekers had reconstructive surgery and missed all of spring practices. He was back near full strength by fall and played in 10 regular-season games for the Huskers in 1992. He was a backup to right tackle Jamie Liewer, before switching to left tackle where he played behind John Parrella at the start of the Big Eight season. Ramaekers switched back to the right side for the final two regular-season games.

He totaled nine tackles, including three solos on the year, with season highs of three tackles each against Utah and Oklahoma State. He appeared in the Orange Bowl against Florida State but did not record any tackles.

Off the field, Ramaekers earned a 1992 Region IV Academic Adversity Achievement Award presented by the National Association for Athletic Academic Advisors, for his improved status in the classroom.

Sophomore (1991)
After missing two of the three previous years of competition, Ramaekers made up for lost time by becoming a key member of a rebuilt defensive line. He missed the season opener with back spasms, then started against Colorado State and Washington before giving way to sophomore Jamie Liewer.

Ramaekers came off the bench with a solid six-tackle performance at Colorado on Nov. 2, and started the final three games, getting five tackles at Kansas, a career-high seven vs. Iowa State and six in the finale against Oklahoma.

For the season, Ramaekers started six games at left defensive tackle and had 35 tackles, one fumble caused and recovered and six quarterback hurries. He played in the 1992 Orange Bowl against Miami and had two assisted tackles. He also earned a spot on the Phillips 66 Big Eight Academic Honor Roll as a human development major.

Redshirt Freshman (1990)
A scholarship athlete, Ramaekers redshirted in 1990, but competed for Nebraska on the indoor and outdoor track and field team. He threw the discus and competed in the shot put. His best throw in the shot was 51-5 3/4.

Freshman (1989)
After sitting out a year, Ramaekers became the starting left tackle on Nebraska's junior varsity team and finished as the squad's fourth-leading tackler with 23 stops. He ranked second on the team in solo tackles (18) and tackles for loss (5-16). He also competed on the men's track and field team during the 1990 indoor season.

Ramaekers was enrolled at Nebraska part time as a student in 1988, but did not compete athletically.

Before Nebraska (Norfolk Catholic High School)
A two-time Class C-1 all-state selection at Norfolk Catholic, Ramaekers was a Bally All-American and an all-class, all-state choice as a senior in 1987. He led Coach Jeff Bellar's team to a berth in the Class C-1 state championship game. Ramaekers was also one of the top prep track and field athletes in Nebraska history, posting the fourth-best shot put mark in state history with a heave of 62-10 in 1988. He also won the Class C state heavyweight wrestling title as a senior in 1988.

Personal
The son of Bud and Alice Ramaekers, Kevin was born Dec. 18, 1969 in Omaha, Neb. He has five brothers and three sisters. He earned his bachelor's degree as a human development major from Nebraska in August of 1993. During the summer of 1993, Ramaekers served as a Nebraska Student-Athlete Ambassador. He was also a volunteer speaker at the Omaha Youth Rap Sessions.
