1994 (Senior)
Jerad Higman played in every regular-season game and the 1995 Federal Express Orange Bowl victory over Miami to help Nebraska to the national championship. Higman, who was a backup to outside linebacker Donta Jones, recorded four tackles and had four quarterback hurries during the season. He helped the Big Red capture its third consecutive Big Eight Conference title while posting a perfect 13-0 record that included a 24-17 win over the Hurricanes in the national championship game.

Higman finished his career with nine total tackles, including one sack, over 26 regular-season games. He earned three letters for the Huskers and was a two-time Phillips 66 Academic All-Big Eight Honor Roll selection.

1993 (Junior)
A backup at right outside linebacker to All-American Trev Alberts, Higman played in nine regular-season games and finished with four tackles, including a 13-yard sack against Texas Tech. He helped Nebraska to an unbeaten regular season and a second straight Big Eight title before facing Florida State in the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl national championship game.

1992 (Sophomore)
Higman earned his first varsity letter for the Huskers after appearing in five games. He recorded one unassisted tackle, as Nebraska won the Big Eight Conference title.

1991 (Redshirt)
A walk-on, Higman redshirted in his second year at Nebraska.

1990 (Freshman)
Higman played outside linebacker on the last Husker JV team, which went 4-1 in 1990. He posted 12 tackles, including two solos. He also notched two sacks for 13 yards lost.

Akron-Westfield High School
A linebacker and offensive guard for Coach Craig Parkinson, Higman helped lead Akron-Westfield to the state quarterfinals for the first time in school history his junior season in 1988. He was a key to Akron-Westfield going 16-2 over his junior and senor seasons combined with nine shutouts. He tallied a school-record 130 tackles as a junior, before recording 94 tackles as a senior in 1989. Higman earned first-team all-state honors and was also the Akron-Westfield valedictorian.

Personal
The son of Harold and Sue Higman, Jerad was born in Akron, Iowa. He has two brothers, Joel and Justin. A mechanical engineering major, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Nebraska in May of 1995. He spent the summer of 1994 working for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber company as an engineering intern. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma national engineering honor societies.
