1993 (Senior)
Dean Schneider lettered for the Big Eight champion Huskers as a senior in 1993. The 5-11, 205-pound outside linebacker from Inman, Neb., appeared in two games, including the season-opening win over North Texas and a victory over Colorado State, when he recorded his lone tackle of the season. Nebraska went unbeaten during the regular season before suffering a narrow 18-16 loss to Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward and Florida State in the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl.
Overall, Schneider played 10 career games for the Big Red, recording four career tackles.
1992 (Junior)
Schneider played five games and had one solo tackle as a free safety for the Big Eight champion Huskers in 1992.
1991 (Sophomore)
Schneider played in three games in his third season as a Husker, recording a pair of assisted tackles from his free safety position.
1990 (Redshirt)
Schneider redshirted in his second year as a Husker in 1990.
1989 (Freshman)
A walk-on from O’Neill St. Mary’s High School, Schneider played safety for the Husker freshman/JV team. He recorded five tackles, including one solo, and a pass breakup.
St. Mary’s High School
Schneider played quarterback and linebacker for Coach Kevin Wallace at St. Mary’s High School in O’Neill, Neb. Schneider earned all-state honors his last two seasons and all-area honors three times. He earned four varsity letters each in football, basketball and track. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the president of the student council.
Personal
The son of Don and Dolores Schneider, Dean has seven older brothers and two younger sisters. He was born in O’Neill. He was a social sciences major at Nebraska.
