1993 (Senior)
A three-year letterwinner for Nebraska at linebacker, Daren Williams played 10 regular-season games for the Big Eight champion Huskers as a senior in 1993. The 6-1, 245-pounder from Chicago totaled 28 tackles, including eight solos, while recording two tackles for three yards lost. He also recovered one fumble on the year to help the Big Red to an unbeaten regular season. He played in the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl national championship game against Florida State, but he did not record a tackle.

In his career, Williams played in 31 regular-season games with 98 total tackles, including 28 solos and 70 assists. He finished with seven TFLs for 10 yards in losses and two fumble recoveries. He also had three quarterback hurries, a pass breakup and an interception. He played in three straight Orange Bowls did not record a postseason tackle.

1992 (Junior)
Williams served as a backup to starter Mike Anderson at strong-side linebacker, playing in 11 games for the Big Eight champion Huskers. He posted 36 tackles on the year, including 10 solos. He notched a one-yard TFL in the season-opening win over Utah, before recovering a fumble against Arizona State. Williams recorded a career-high 11 tackles against then-No. 2 Washington. He registered a PBU against Middle Tennessee State. He played in the Orange Bowl but did not record a tackle.

1991 (Sophomore)
Williams played in every regular-season game to earn his first varsity letter for the Big Red. He was primarily a reserve at strong-side linebacker behind senior three-year starter Mike Petko. Williams got his first career start against Iowa State (Nov. 16), when Petko was nursing knee and hamstring injuries. Williams posted five tackles against the Cyclones, after recording a season-high nine stops a week earlier against Kansas. He finished the year with 34 total tackles, including four for six yards in losses. He also had three quarterback hurries and a pass breakup.

1990 (Redshirt)
A scholarship athlete, Williams redshirted in 1990.

1989 (Freshman)
Williams was a reserve linebacker for the Husker JV team, finishing as the team’s fifth-leading tackler with 21 total stops, including 16 solos. Two of his tackles came behind the line of scrimmage for four total yards in losses.

St. Martin High School
A two-time All-Catholic League linebacker for Coach Jim Lick at St. Martin High School, Williams recorded 110 total tackles as a senior in 1988, including 40 unassisted stops. He also blocked one punt. Williams was an all-state pick by the Champaign News-Gazette.

Personal
The son of Rosie Starks, Daren majored in consumer science and education at Nebraska. He graduated in December 1993. He served the community as a volunteer speaker and reader in the VIP Outreach program.
