Member of 1994 Nebraska National Championship Team. 

1994 (Senior)
Bill Humphrey earned his third letter as a Husker while helping the Big Red to the 1994 national championship. The 6-2, 265-pound center from Libertyville, Ill., played in every game behind All-America center Aaron Graham as part of Nebraska’s “Pipeline” offensive line. Humphrey helped the Huskers capture the NCAA rushing title by averaging 340.0 yards per game. The Big Red also ranked fifth nationally in total offense (477.8 ypg) and sixth in scoring (36.3 ppg) to fuel Nebraska’s unbeaten season (13-0) and a third consecutive Big Eight Conference title. Humphrey also played in Nebraska’s 1995 Federal Express Orange Bowl victory over Miami, which featured a 15-0 fourth-quarter rally to a 24-17 win. 

1993 (Junior)
Humphrey played in every game at center behind Graham, including an appearance in the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State. The Husker O-line powered Nebraska to an unbeaten regular season and a second consecutive Big Eight title. Humphrey moved from defense to offense in the spring of 1993. 

1992 (Sophomore)
Humphrey earned his first varsity letter after playing in four games as a reserve nose tackle behind David Noonan. Humphrey recorded six tackles with two solo stops, including two tackles for 15 yards lost. He notched one sack for nine yards. He also forced one fumble and posted two quarterback hurries for a Husker team that won the Big Eight title. 

1991 (Redshirt)
Humphrey redshirted in his second season at Nebraska in 1991. 

1990 (Freshman)
A scholarship recruit, Humphrey was the starting nose guard on the Nebraska junior varsity team. He was the squad’s fourth-leading tackler with 21 total stops – the most among defensive linemen. He also ranked second on the team with five tackles for 11 yards lost and in sacks with two. Humphrey added one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup. 

Libertyville High School
A two-way performer, Humphrey earned all-area and All-North Suburban Conference honors in leading Libertyville High School to the second round of the Illinois state playoffs under Coach Dale Christensen. As a defensive tackle, Humphrey recorded 54 unassisted tackles, including 13 TFLs and four sacks. He earned four letters in football and played five different positions. He also lettered in baseball for the Chicago-area school. 

Personal
The son of Bill and Rose Humphrey, Bill was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has a brother, Steve, and a sister, Anne.
