Phillips 66 Big Eight Academic Honor Roll (1992)
Two CFL Seasons (Edmonton Eskimos, 1993-94)
1992 (Senior)
Terris Chorney helped the Big Red capture the Big Eight title and earn a trip to the 1993 Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State. The senior center from Ituna, Saskatchewan, Canada helped the Huskers claim the NCAA rushing title for the second straight season (328.2 ypg), while also ranking second nationally in scoring (38.8 ppg). Chorney earned his third varsity letter while playing as an alternate behind starter Jim Scott throughout the season. Chorney was selected in the fourth round of the 1993 CFL Draft (26th overall pick) by the Edmonton Eskimos. He played 11 games for the Eskimos over two seasons in 1993 and 1994.
1991 (Junior)
Chorney lettered as a reserve at center behind Jim Scott and Bill Ziegelbein, despite missing the last six regular-season games and the Orange Bowl because of arthroscopic knee surgery in October. A second surgery followed in November to repair a damaged ACL. He played well early in the season after suffering a broken hand in spring practice. Nebraska won the Big Eight title and the NCAA rushing title.
1990 (Sophomore)
Chorney earned his first varsity letter behind starter David Edeal at center. Chorney played in four regular-season games.
1989 (Redshirt)
Chorney redshirted in his second season at Nebraska.
1988 (Freshman)
Chorney started at center for Coach Shane Thorell’s 5-0 Husker junior varsity team. He helped the JV average 485.6 yards of total offense, including 359.6 rushing yards per game.
Saskatoon Holy Cross High School
Terris played center and offensive tackle for the large-school provincial champions as a junior in 1986. He was named the outstanding lineman in the 1987 Senior Bowl all-star.
