1992 (Senior)
One of three outstanding outside linebackers on Nebraska’s 1992 Big Eight championship team, David White played a vital role as the backup to Trev Alberts at ROLB. White was also available behind Travis Hill at LOLB. White got more playing time as the season went on by filling in at strong-side linebacker for an injured Mike Anderson. White also became a starter in Nebraska’s dime defense. He finished the season as NU’s eighth-leading tackler with 51 stops, including 21 solos. The fifth-year senior posted three tackles for 11 yards lost, including two sacks for seven yards. He also caused one fumble and recovered another. He added two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries. White notched a career-high 10 tackles against Arizona State, including a six-yard sack. He helped the Huskers earn a trip to the 1993 Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State.

A four-year letterman, White totaled 137 tackles (63 solos), including 13 tackles for loss (48 yards). He recorded eight sacks (34 yards) and forced three fumbles while recovering five more fumbles in his career. He added 15 QB hurries and four PBUs, while adding an interception and a blocked kick. White played in all 44 regular-season games in his career and four Husker bowl games.

White signed an NFL contract as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots before being cut prior to the 1993 season. He signed with the Buffalo Bills, before returning to the Patriots late in the regular season. He played the 1995 and 1996 seasons with the Bills. He finished his NFL career with 29 tackles, including 1.5 sacks. He also had an interception, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. He recorded one NFL touchdown. He also had a productive career in the Arena Football League from 1999 to 2005, playing two seasons with the Buffalo Destroyers (1999, 2000), one season with the Toronto Phantoms (2001), a year with the Georgia Force (2002) and four years with the Tampa Bay Storm (2002-05). He was a member of Tampa Bay’s ArenaBowl XVII championship team.

1991 (Junior)
White started every game at right outside linebacker but shared equal playing time with Trev Alberts throughout the year, as the duo replaced Mike Croel, who was the No. 4 overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft and the eventual NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. White finished the season 10th on the team in tackles with 42, while ranking second in sacks (5-20 yards) behind only Alberts. White added four QB hurries and a pair of pass breakups. He notched a season-high seven tackles against Washington (Sept. 21), before adding six-tackle performances against Colorado and Iowa State.

1990 (Sophomore)
White played in all 11 games as the alternate behind Travis Hill at outside linebacker. White totaled 24 tackles, including three TFLs for eight yards lost. He also caused one fumble, recovered to more and had the Big Red’s only blocked kick of the season (Kansas State FG). White also contributed three QB hurries. He recorded a season high with five tackles against Kansas.

1989 (Redshirt Freshman)
One of five redshirt freshmen to make significant impacts for the Huskers, White played in all 11 regular-season games as an alternate at right outside linebacker behind Mike Croel. White finished the year with 20 tackles (12 solos), including one sack for seven yards. He added an interception and a five-yard return on the final play of the game in a win over Minnesota. He also notched a season-high five tackles against the Gophers. White recovered a fumble on kickoff coverage against Kansas, which set up a 24-yard touchdown drive.

1988 (Redshirt)
White advanced to the varsity squad soon after practice began in August, then redshirted to save a year of eligibility while making the move to outside linebacker. White played offense his final two years of high school football.

St. Augustine High School
White earned all-district honors as a sophomore defensive end at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans in 1985, then moved to tight end for his junior and senior seasons. A fine blocker on a run-oriented team, White caught 15 passes for 225 yards as a senior to earn All-Metro New Orleans honors for a team that was ranked No. 1 in Louisiana until being upset in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs in 1987. White was a high school teammate of Huskers Tyrone Hughes and Vincent Hawkins at St. Augustine, where he was coached by former Husker Burton Burns.
