1991 (Senior)
Dan Pleasant earned his second varsity letter by playing in 10 regular-season games as a split end for the Big Eight champion Huskers in 1991. He helped Nebraska advance to the 1992 Federal Express Orange Bowl against Miami. He finished the year with one reception for 18 yards against Colorado State. He also contributed three tackles on the season. He aided Nebraska’s push for its third NCAA rushing title in a four-year span, as the Huskers averaged 353.2 yards per game in 1991. The Big Red also ranked third nationally in both scoring (41.3 ppg) and total offense (506.5 ypg).
Pleasant finished his career with three receptions for 42 yards. He played in 25 regular-season games.
1990 (Junior)
Pleasant played in all 11 of Nebraska’s regular-season games and the 1991 Florida Citrus Bowl against Florida State. He shared the No. 2 split end spot behind Jon Bostick alongside fellow junior Mark Dowse. A solid blocker, Pleasant caught two passes for 24 yards on the year. He had one catch for 16 yards in the win over Minnesota and another catch for eight yards against Oklahoma. Pleasant earned his first varsity letter by helping the Huskers rank second nationally in rushing offense (340.0 ypg) and sixth in scoring (37.5 ppg).
1989 (Sophomore)
Pleasant saw action in four games as a non-lettered reserve. He had no varsity statistics. The Big Red won the NCAA rushing title by averaging 375.3 yards per game, while ranking second nationally in scoring (44.7 ppg) and third in total offense (513.3 ypg).
Pleasant also played for Coach Shane Thorell’s Husker junior varsity team and hauled in two receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.
1988 (Redshirt)
Pleasant redshirted in his second season at Nebraska, and the Big Red won the Big Eight championship.
1987 (Freshman)
A walk-on, Pleasant was an alternate at split end for the NU junior varsity team. He led the squad with nine receptions for 140 yards over five games.
Moffat County High School
The Colorado Athlete of the Year in the state’s second-largest class as a senior in 1986-87, Pleasant was a two-time all-conference wide receiver for Coach Bill Yester. Pleasant also played monster on defense. He was also an all-conference performer in basketball and lettered in track at Moffat County High School in Craig, Colo.
Personal
The son of Pete and Madge Pleasant, Dan was born in Craig, Colo. He has one brother. Dan was an economics major at Nebraska.
