1991 (Senior)
Curtis Cotton started every regular-season game at left cornerback for the Big Eight champion Huskers, helping Nebraska earn a trip to the 1992 Federal Express Orange Bowl. Cotton captured second-team All-Big Eight honors from the Associated Press after finishing the year with 42 tackles, including 18 solos, while registering a seven-yard sack. He added four pass breakups, caused a fumble against Oklahoma and recovered a fumble against Arizona State. Cotton recorded a career-high nine tackles, including five solos, against Washington. He added five tackles and a breakup in Orange Bowl start against Miami.
A three-year letterman, Cotton played 32 career games with 12 starts and finished with 88 tackles (43 solos). He added two sacks for 15 yards. He registered seven pass breakups and three QB hurries, while adding one fumble caused and one fumble recovery. Cotton was chosen in the seventh round of the 1992 NFL Draft (173rd overall pick) by the Los Angeles Raiders. Cotton played one game for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League in 1995. He spent the 1996 season with the Frankfurt Galaxy in the World League of American Football recording 31 tackles and hauling in one interception. He played two games for the New York Cityhawks in the Arena Football League in 1997, before playing four games for the Orlando Predators later in the same season. He played his final season in the Arena Football League with the Milwaukee Mustangs in 1998.
1990 (Junior)
Cotton saw action in all 11 games as an alternate at strong safety behind All-Big Eight Reggie Cooper. Cotton finished with 26 total tackles, including 16 unassisted stops and an eight-yard sack. He also forced one fumble, recorded two pass breakups and added two quarterback hurries. He notched a season-high five tackles against Iowa State, while adding four tackles in four other games. He forced a Georgia Tech fumble in the 1991 Florida Citrus Bowl, but he did not register a tackle.
1989 (Sophomore)
Cotton played in 10 of NU’s 11 regular-season and made his first career start against Kansas when Reggie Cooper was held out by a knee injury that required surgery. Cotton finished the year with 20 tackles, including nine solos. He also had one pass breakup. He notched a season-high five tackles against Utah before adding four stops against Missouri.
1988 (Redshirt)
Cotton redshirted in his second season at Nebraska, while the Huskers claimed the Big Eight championship.
1987 (Freshman)
Cotton sat out the year after completing high school after not meeting the NCAA’s Proposition 48 requirements.
Omaha Central High School
An all-state performer for Coach William Reed at Omaha Central, Cotton original signed a national letter of intent with Iowa but was released from the letter by the Hawkeyes and enrolled at Nebraska.

The son of Johnnie Mays, Cutris Cotton was a human development major at Nebraska.
