1990 (Senior)
Jim Wanek helped the Huskers lead the Big Eight in three offensive categories- rushing (340.0 yards per game), total offense (444.36 yards per game) and scoring (37.5 points per game).  Wanek earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American and Academic All-Big Eight honors in his final season as a Husker.

1989 (Junior)

As the starting left guard, Wanek helped the Huskers win their sixth NCAA rushing crown of the 1980s at 375.3 yards per game. His efforts also helped lead the Nebraska lead the Big Eight and rank second nationally in scoring offense at 44.7 points per game. Wanek earned Lee Jeans Academic All-Big Eight honors, and was named honorable mention All-Big Eight by conference coaches.

1988 (Sophomore)
Wanek played in all but one regular-season game as a back-up behind Keeler and helped Nebraska win its fifth NCAA rushing title of the decade at 382.3 yards per game. On special teams, he recorded three tackles.

1987 (Redshirt)
Wanek used his redshirt in 1987 and switched positions from center to guard.

1986 (Freshman)
Wanek came to the Huskers as a scholarship recruit. He started at center for Coach Scott Downing's 4-1-0 freshman team.

2004 (Redshirt)
One of five native Nebraskans in the 2004 class, Christensen redshirted and made an excellent impression on the scout team.

Before Nebraska (Aurora HS)
Wanek was a two-time Class B all-state lineman. He earned all-class all-state honors his senior year. Wanek was also the state shot put champion as a junior. He lettered four times in track, three times in football, and once in basketball.

Personal
Jim is the son of Tom and Deanie Wanek. He was born on June 22, 1970 in Grand Island, Nebr. Jim was a speech communications major.
