1991 (Senior)
Legette teamed with fellow senior Curtis Cotton and junior Kenny Wilhite to give Nebraska of the best groups of cornerbacks in college football. Legette started every game at right corner and broke up nine passes to break the old school record of eight, which had been done most recently in 1989 by Tahaun Lewis. Those numbers, and his 45 tackles (ninth on the team) helped earn the South Carolinian All-Big Eight honors from the Associated Press and the conference coaches, and made him one of two nationwide finalists, along with Florida State's Terrell Buckley, for the Columbus Touchdown Club's Defensive Back-of-the-Year Award. His lone interception of the year came off Washington's Billy Joe Hobert, Sept. 21. Legette's top career tackle day came against Kansas State on Oct. 19, when he recorded 12 stops, including seven solos, in the Huskers' 38-31 come-from-behind win over the Wildcats.
1990 (Junior)
A versatile performer, Legette played in all 11 games at both cornerback spots. He started the Oklahoma State game at left corner ahead of Bruce Pickens, a two-time All-Big Eight pick. He started in place of Lewis at right corner the last three games of the season and in the Citrus Bowl, when Legette equaled his season high for the fifth straight game with four tackles against Georgia Tech. He had 22 tackles as a junior, including 11 solo stops, caused three fumbles and recovered two others, and had two interceptions.
1989 (Sophomore)
Playing in all 11 games as a true sophomore, Legette recorded 14 total tackles, including seven solo stops. He also had a pass breakup and an interception.
1988 (Freshman)
The starting right corner for Coach Shane Thorell's 5-0 junior varsity team, Legette led the team in kickoff returns with five for 201 yards and a 40.2-yard average, helped by a 94-yard touchdown against the Air Force junior varsity, which started the junior Huskers on their way to a 35-16 win.
At Columbia Spring Valley HS
The Columbia Touchdown Club's 1987 player-of-the-year, Legette was an all-area defensive back as a junior, and all-area running back as a senior for Coach Jerry Brown. He led his team to back-to-back 10-2 season in 1986 and 1987. In his first season at running back in 1987, he set school rushing records of 210 attempts and 1,580 yards.
Personal
The son of Earl and Annie Legette, Tyrone was born Feb. 15, 1970. He is the youngest of 10 children.
