1989 (Senior)
Fitzke was Nebraska’s No. 3 center behind All-American Jake Young and David Edeal, he provided valuable depth along the offensive line while earning his second varsity letter. He helped the Cornhuskers to a 10–2 record and earn a berth in the Fiesta Bowl against Florida State. Fitzke was a contributor on special teams, he played in all 11 games, handling all of Nebraska’s long-snapping duties, and was consistently among the first players downfield in punt coverage. He led the Huskers with four punt-coverage tackles and helped Nebraska lead the Big-Eight in rushing offense (375.3 ypg), scoring offense (44.7 ppg), and total offense (513.3 ypg).

1988 (Junior)
As a junior, he played in eight games for Nebraska, contributing as a reserve and on special teams. He helped the Cornhuskers post an 11–2 record and earn a berth in the Orange Bowl against Miami. His efforts throughout the season earned him his first varsity letter.

1987 (Sophomore)
Fitzke saw action in four games as a sophomore but did not receive a varsity letter. His help as a reserve assisted the Huskers to a 10-2 record and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl against Florida State. 

1986 (Redshirt)
Fitzke Redshirted in his second season as a Husker.

1985 (Freshman)
Fitzke was a walk-on and an alternate center behind Chris O'Gara was a freshman. Fitzke Helped Coach Dan Young's freshman squad to a 5-0 finish. 

Harvard High School
A standout linebacker for Coach Dave Carlson, he earned All-State honors and was a two-time All-Conference selection at inside linebacker. He helped lead his team to two playoff appearances, compiling a combined 20–3 record during those seasons. He also lettered in basketball, baseball, and track & field.

Fitzke was an Agribusiness Major. He is the son of Larry and LaVonne Fitzke. Born in Hastings Nebraska.
