1989 (Sophomore)
Nebraska's No. 4 inside linebacker behind Mike Petko and seniors Randall Jobman and Mark Hagge. Mohnsen saw action in four games and finished the season with three total tackles, two assisted and one unassisted. Mohnsen helped Nebraska to a 10-2 record, a Fiesta Bowl berth, and the nation's eighth-ranked defense during the 1989 season. 

1988 (Redshirt)
Mohnsen redshirted in his second season at Nebraska in 1988.

1987 (Freshman)
A walk-on, Mohsen was a part-time starter at left defensive end on the Husker’s freshman team. Mohsen had six total tackles including one tackle for loss during the five-game season. 

McCook High School
Played linebacker and center for former Husker Larry Frost (1967-68-69) and earned honorable-mention all-state honors. He was also an honorable-mention all-state basketball player and a two-time medal-winner in the discus at the state Track & Field meet. 

Personal
The son of Gary and Jan Mohnsen, Brian was born in Omaha. He was a secondary education and physical education/ health major. After graduation Brian worked for Nebraska in the defensive scouting department as the director of video scouting. He is currently working at the University of South Dakota football team as the Assistant Head Coach/ Defensive Coordinator.
