1986 (Senior)
Carl was a non-letter winner during the 1986 season. Nebraska finished the year with the second best defense in the Big-Eight only allowing 13.8 points per game just behind Oklahoma.
1985 (Junior)
Carl shared time with Cleo Miller and Dennis Watkins at right corner and started several games at mid-season. He finished the year with 21 total tackles, 16 unassisted, broke up three passes and intercepted two others. He also had a top tackle game of six against Missouri which helped the Huskers to a 28-20 win.
1984 (Sophomore)
Carl earned his first varsity letter as a sophomore, he appeared in seven games finishing with four total tackles, 3 unassisted, one pass breakup and a fumble recovery. Nebraska finished with a 10-2 record and a Sugar Bowl win against LSU (28-10).
1983 (Redshirt)
Carl redshirted his second year at Nebraska.
1982 (Freshman)
Mike started at cornerback for the 5-0 Husker Freshman team and led the Nebraska secondary in tackles with 13, he also led the team in pass break-ups with four and had an interception.
Gretna High School
All-state in both football and basketball, where he starred as a running back and a defensive back for Coach Tom Leehy, Mike also appeared in the 1982 Nebraska Shrine Bowl.

Mike majored in criminal justice, He was born in Omaha Nebraska and is the son of Jackie Carl.
