  • Academic All-Big Eight (1987)

1987 (Senior)
Tomjack started two games for the Huskers but was a top alternate defensive back in the country, finishing with 16 tackles as a senior. Tomjack had a key interception against Oklahoma which preserved the Huskers lead, he also had a fumble recovery against South Carolina which set up a game winning touchdown. Tomjack helped the Blackshirts rank sixth nationally in scoring defense (12.1 ppg), eighth in total defense (264.7 ypg) and ninth in rushing defense (107.0 ypg). He helped the Big Red to a 10-2 overall record and a trip to the 1988 Fiesta Bowl against Florida State. 

1986 (Junior)
Tomjack saw action in every game as a junior, starting against Oregon and South Carolina for the injured Brian Washington. Finishing the year with 18 tackles, two pass break ups, and an interception against Oregon which he returned to the Oregon four yard line. Tomjack had a career high 6 tackles against South Carolina. He helped the Huskers reach the 1987 Sugar Bowl, where they defeated LSU Tigers football 30-15. 

1985 (Sophomore)
Tomjack appeared in seven games as a sophomore recording three tackles and blocking a punt for a safety against Kansas. He helped the Huskers to a 10-2 record and a Sugar Bowl win vs. LSU. 

1984 (Redshirt)
Tomjack redshirted his second season as a Husker. 

1983 (Freshman)
Tomjack started at strong safety for the 5-0 freshman team. Finishing with 17 tackles, 12 unassisted tackles and four tackles for loss. 

Ewing High School
During his high school career Jeff had 236 points, rushing for 2,057 yards and passed for 3,501 yards and 45 touchdowns for Coach Mike McCabe. He was a two-time all-starter in basketball and led Ewing to the state Class C-2 finals. He was featured in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” section.

Personal
Jeff was a Pre-Med major and carried a 3.5 GPA. He was born in Heligh, Nebraska. After graduation, Jeff attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he graduated in 1992. Dr. Tomjack began his career with Women’s Health Care Center of Williamsburg in 1996.
