1987 (Senior)
Hawkins was a former quarterback and split end, during his final season as a Husker Hawkins transitioned to wingback. Appearing in 10 games, he carried the ball three times for 19 yards and hauled in five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. As a senior leader he helped the Husker offense to 38.5 ppg which was third in the nation and the second total offense team (489.0 ypg) in the nation. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl. 

1986 (Junior)
Hawkins earned his second varsity letter while appearing in 10 games for the Huskers. Rushing three times for 13 yards and hauling in one reception for five yards. Hawkins helped the Huskers to an appearance in the 1987 USF&G Sugar Bowl, where they defeated LSU 30-15. Nebraska finished second nationally in rushing offense (305.5 ypg) and third in scoring (37.8 ppg).   

1985 (Sophomore)
Hawkins was awarded his first varsity letter as he earned playing time in 9 games. He caught 2 passes for 26 yards and had a career long 14 yard reception. Hawkins helped the Huskers to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl. 

1984 (Redshirt)
Hawkins redshirted in his second season at Nebraska.

1983 (Freshman)
Originally expected to play defensive back at Nebraska, he instead found a role as an alternate quarterback on the freshman team. During the season, he completed 10 of 29 pass attempts for 88 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also added 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

Crenshaw High School
Hawkins earned All-City honors (Los Angeles) in both football and basketball during his high school career. Hawkins was a three-time All-League selection in football and baseball. On the diamond, he excelled as a shortstop, batting .590 batting as a senior.  

Personal
Hendley was a business administration major, He is the son of Lucy Hawkins. Born in Los Angeles, California. After graduation Hendley returned to Los Angeles and in November of 1997 he began working within the Los Angeles Police Department. Hendley currently holds the title of Captain III.
