1986 (Senior)
Spachman started all 11 games as a senior, earning Honorable-Mention All-American honors as well as First Team All-Big Eight honors. During the season he finished with 33 tackles (21 unassisted and 12 assisted), one sack, 4 tackles for loss for 17 yards, one pass break up and one fumble recovery. Spachman led the Huskers to a 10-2 record and an appearance in the 1987 Sugar Bowl, where Nebraska defeated the LSU Tigers, 30-15.
1985 (Junior)
Spachman recorded 34 tackles, 23 unassisted in including five for losses of 17 yards. He also led the defensive line in pass break ups with four and fumble recoveries with two. He also returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Spachman's first pick six came in the Huskers win over Illinois (52-25) when he picked off Jack Trudeau and returned it 38 yards for a score. The second one came when he intercepted a fumble and raced it 76 yards for a touchdown with only 26 seconds left, which was Nebraska's only score against Oklahoma, He also had a season high of six tackles against Oklahoma.
1984 (Sophomore)
Spachman started all but one game as a sophomore (Oklahoma State). He helped the Huskers lead the nation in defense (203.3 yards per game) and scoring (9.5 ppg). Spachman also led the interior line in tackles with 38, including a team leading seven sacks for 45 yards in losses. He also shared the lead in total tackles for loss with 12 for 65 yards. His top tackle game of the season and his career came against Syracuse when he had 11 tackles.
1983 (Redshirt)
Chris redshirted during his second season at Nebraska.
1982 (Freshman)
Spachman started at left defensive tackle for the 5-0 freshman team.
Bishop Miege High School
Spachman was a heavily sought after recruit from Bishop Miege High School in Kansas City Missouri. He was an all-conference, all-metro, and all-state as a defensive lineman for Coach Bob Tavernaro, where he lettered once in each football and basketball.
Personal
Chris is the son of Robert and Carol Spachman, he majored in speech communications. Chris was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
