  • 1986 Academic All-Big Eight

1986 (Senior)
Tyrer appeared in all 12 games for the Huskers, recording 15 total tackles, including 12 solo stops and three assisted tackles. He tied for third on the team with four sacks, resulting in 30 yards lost, and added eight tackles for loss totaling 39 yards. In addition Tyrer earned Academic All-Big Eight honors for his achievements in mathematics. Tyrer led the Huskers to a 10-2 record and an appearance in the 1987 Sugar Bowl, where Nebraska defeated the LSU Tigers, 30-15.

1985 (Junior)
Tyrer lettered as a reserve when he appeared in seven games and recorded five tackles, three of which were unassisted. Brad helped the Huskers to a 9-3 record and a 1986 Sunkist Fiesta Bowl appearance against Michigan. 

1984 (Sophomore)
Brad did not letter as a reserve on the varsity in 1984, despite that he still finished the season with four tackles and intercepted a pass against Minnesota. Nebraska finished with a 10-2 record and a Sugar Bowl win against LSU (28-10). 

1983 (Freshman)
Brad was a starter at left end on the Huskers 5-0 freshman team where he recorded 18 tackles (10 unassisted), including three tackles for losses totaling seven yards and one quarterback sack while also recovering a fumble. 

1982 (Hardship)
Tyrer received a hardship year his freshman season when he dislocated his shoulder in the metro Kansas City high school all-star game in the summer and had to undergo surgery. 

Rockhurst High School- Kansas City, Missouri
Tyrer was an All-American defensive end and an all-district tight end for Coach Jerry Culver at Kansas City Rockhurst High School. 

Personal
Brad majored in speech communication. He was born in 1963 in Columbus, Ohio, and is the son of a perennial All-Pro guard for the Kansas City Chiefs.
