1985 (Senior)
Frain's receiving numbers declined in 1985, as he caught three passes after recording 15 receptions the previous season. Two of his catches came against New Mexico, while the other was against Oklahoma. Although his role in the passing game decreased, Frain remained an outstanding blocker, helping Nebraska lead the nation in rushing for the fourth time in six years with an average of 374.3 rushing yards per game. The Huskers finished the season with a 9-3 record and earned a berth in the Fiesta Bowl against Michigan.
1984 (Junior)
Frain joins fellow senior Brain Hiemer at Nebraska’s deepest position in terms of experience; they shared starts and playing time almost equally. The two combined for 27 receptions for 392 yards and five touchdowns. Of those, Frain caught 15 passes and lead the team with 218 receiving yards but had just one touchdown during the regular season, a 25 yard touchdown from Craig Sundberg for the Huskers only touchdown in their 17-9 upset loss at Syracuse. Frain's best game came in the Sugar Bowl against LSU where he hauled in a career-high four passes for 53 yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns from Sundberg to help Nebraska to a 28-10 win.
1983 (Sophomore)
Frain was an alternate behind Monte Engebritson, despite this he still finished with five receptions, three of those for touchdowns, including a game winning touchdown in a 14-10 win over Oklahoma State.
1982 (Redshirt)
Frain redshirted his second season at Nebraska.
1981 (Freshman)
Frain caught four passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns, including a 47-yard score against Wyoming. The 1981 freshman team finished with an undefeated 5-0 record.
