1984 (Junior)
Hiemer split starts with fellow junior Todd Frain as part of Nebraska's outstanding tight end duo. The duo combined to catch 27 passes for 392 yards and five touchdowns, Hiemer caught 12 for 174 yards. Brian's four touchdown catches led the team and accounted for half of Nebraska's aerial scores in 1984. His four receptions against Kansas equaled the most for any Husker receiver in a game during the 1984 season. In the Sugar Bowl win over LSU, Hiemer added two catches for 30 yards, one which he carried to the LSU 9 yard line, setting up a Husker go ahead touchdown. 

1983 (Sophomore)
Hiemer started spring practice listed as the 10th tight end on the depth chart, but worked his way all the way to the No. three spot in the fall and lettered as a reserve behind Monte Engebritson and Frain, He caught two passes for 32 yards. 

1982 (Redshirt)
Hiemer redshirted his second season at Nebraska. 

1981 (Freshman)
A walkon in 1981, Hiemer did not catch a pass for the Huskers freshman team, but was six for six kicking PAT’s. 

David City Aquinas High School
Brian was a standout player for Coach Dave McMahon at Aquinas where he was teammates with Brain Pokorney, a cornerback for the Huskers.

Personal
Brian was majoring in Mechanical Engineering, he is the son of Willard and Loyola Hiemer, born in 1963.
