All-American (Football Writers, Football News, and Sporting News) and a consensus All-Big 8 pick, Clark signed with the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL, but was still a seventh-round choice of the NFL Los Angeles Raiders a few days later.
Nebraska team leader in interceptions (five), passes broken up (eight), and fumble recoveries (three). Tied a school records for passes broken up in a season and a career (19). Also set a new record for defensive backs with 101 career unassisted tackles. Intercepted two passes against Colorado. Played in the 1985 Japan Bowl.
1983 (Junior)
An All-Big 8 selection by United Press International last year when he led Nebraska and ranked fourth in the Big 8 in interceptions with five in 12 games, the most for a Husker defender since present NU secondary coach Bob Thornton had five in 1973. Recorded 46 total tackles, ranked third on the squad in unassisted tackles with 37. Season high of seven tackles vs. Wyoming, but his top performance may have come against OklahomaState when he made four stops, broke up a pair of passes and intercepted a Cowboy pass in the Husker end zone on the last play of Nebraska’s narrow 14-10 win at Stillwater.
1982 (Sophomore)
Tied a school record with eight pass breakup as a sophomore in 1982. Led the secondary in tackles with 52 (34 unassisted) and saved his best game for the toughest completion recording a career-high nine in NU’s 28-24 win over Oklahoma, eight in 27-24 loss to national champion Penn State, seven in a 23-19 win over Missouri. Also played key role in a surprisingly easy 41-7 win at Auburn when his defensive adjustment helped shut down Tigers’ wishbone offense in the second half. Football News named him to its sophomore All-American team.

All-state performer for Coach Loyd Maskell at NebraskaCityHigh School, he’s one of four former Pioneers expected to play important roles at NU. Others include Greg Orton, Scott Porter and Chad Daffer. Prep team MVP in both football and basketball.
