Redwine was a first team All-American for the Huskers in 1980. Plagued by a broken rib through the middle of the season, he still gained 1,119 yard son 156 carries and scored nine TDs. Other honors that he won in 1980 were ? first team All-Big 8, two time Big 8 Offensive Player-of-the-Week (Utah and PennState) and two time ABC-TV Player-of-the-Game (PennState and Oklahoma). In 1979, when he burst onto the collegiate scene against PennState on National TV, he gained 124 yards. That season, he earned second team All-American honors, first team All-Big 8 and was the Big 8 Newcomer-of-the-Year. If not for injuries (he was slowed in ’79 by a knee disorder) Redwine could have been the greatest runner in NU history. Gained over 100 yards in 11 games and over 200 yards once. Two time Hinky-Dinky Award winner as the Most Popular Cornhusker.

Redwine was drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. Redwine transferred to Nebraska in 1978 from OregonState, where he played in 1976 and part of 1977. Redwine then sat out the 1978 season to gain eligibility.

Redwine was a all-conference runner at InglewoodHigh School and was born May 16, 1957 to Frank and Jessie Redwine. While at Nebraska Redwine studied criminal justice.
