1981 (Senior)
An honorable-mention All-American by the Associated Press as a senior offensive tackle for the Huskers, Dan Hurley was a first-team All-Big Eight selection by the AP, UPI and the Omaha World-Herald in 1981. Hurley was a dominant force up front for a Big Red rushing machine that ranked second nationally on the ground with 330.5 yards per game. Nebraska also ranked sixth nationally in total offense (437.5 ypg) and seventh in scoring offense (31.7 ppg) on its way to a Big Eight title with a 7-0 conference record. The Huskers finished the season 9-3 after a narrow loss to Clemson in the 1982 Orange Bowl. Playing alongside Outland Trophy winner and Big Eight Player of the Year Dave Rimington at center, Hurley and the O-line paved the way for Roger Craig (1,060) and a young Mike Rozier (943) in the Big Red backfield, as the duo combined for 2,000 rushing yards.

Hurley was a two-year starter at right tackle for the Huskers, after earning his first varsity letter as an offensive lineman for the Huskers in 1979. He participated in both the Hula Bowl and Japan Bowl following the 1981 season. Hurley was a member of the Boston (1983), New Orleans (1984) and Portland Breakers (1985) in the USFL, playing 32 career games at tackle with 26 starts. He also spent the 1987 season with the British Columbia Lions, playing 16 games at guard.

1980 (Junior)
Hurley claimed second-team All-Big Eight honors from the AP and UPI as a first-year starter at right tackle for the Huskers in 1980. He helped the Big Red to the NCAA rushing title with a nation-leading 378.3 yards per game. Nebraska also ranked second nationally in total offense (506.9 ypg) and scoring (39.9 ppg). The Huskers finished 9-2 on the season and defeated Mississippi State in the Sun Bowl.

1979 (Sophomore)
Hurley earned his first varsity letter as a reserve offensive tackle.

1978 (Redshirt)
Hurley redshirted in his second season at Nebraska while making the move from defensive tackle to offensive tackle. He also underwent offseason knee surgery ahead of the 1978 campaign.

1977 (Freshman)
Hurley was a starting defensive tackle for the Nebraska freshman team in 1977.

Omaha Roncalli High School
A two-time all-state performer at defensive tackle and fullback, Hurley played for Coach William Ellis at Omaha Roncalli High School. Hurley was also an All-Metro basketball player at Roncalli.

Personal
The son of J. Bernard and Dorothy Hurley, Dan was born in Omaha. He was a business major at Nebraska.
