1974 (Senior)
Stan was the starting offensive right guard and teamed with Tom Alward as two of the best guards in college football. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 17th round of the 1975 NFL Draft (442nd Overall). Hegener also succeeded in the classroom as he was named Academic All-Big Eight.
Hegener’s blocking helped quarterback Dave Humm lead the Big Eight in total offense (1556 yards), and helped wingback Don Westbrook finish second in receptions (33) and second in scoring (60) in the Big Eight. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and a Sugar Bowl win against Florida (13-10).
1973 (Junior)
Stan played as an alternate behind Dan Anderson. Stan guided the Huskers to the fourth best rushing attack (225.4 ypg) and the second best passing offense (170.6 ypg) in the Big Eight during the ‘73 season. Hegener helped the Huskers to a 9-2-1 record and a 19-3 Cotton Bowl win over Texas.
1972 (Sophomore)
Hegener was a reserve tackle during the ‘72 season.
1971 (Redshirt)
Hegener redshirted his second season as a Husker.
1970 (Freshman)
Hegener was a star offensive lineman with the unbeaten 1970 freshman team.

Stan earned All-City and All-State mention under Coach LeRoy Zentic. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Hegener.
