Randy Borg

1973 (Senior)
Randy was an outstanding starter. He was a definite factor in establishing Nebraska’s pass defense as the No.1 in the nation. Nebraska ranked second in total defense at 245.8 yards per game, behind only Oklahoma. In his senior year, Borg had 29 total tackles, broke up five passes and intercepted two. Also Huskers punt returner, totaled 260 yards including a 77-yard punt return touchdown against UCLA in the first game of the season. Randy signed with the Washington Redskins as a free agent. 

1972 (Junior)
Randy took over at cornerback for All-Big Eight Jim Anderson and did an outstanding job. He intercepted two passes and broke up five more. He finished with 25 tackles, 12 unassisted and a fumble recovery. Randy led the 1972 Huskers in punt-return average on four returns for 86 yards and a 21.5 average. One of his returns was a 60 yarder for a touchdown against Army. 

Nebraska had the best defense in the Big Eight, allowing just 219.2 yards per game. The Huskers ranked first in passing defense (106.5 ypg) and second in rushing defense (112.7 ypg).

1971 (Sophomore)
Borg played behind Jim Anderson at cornerback, recording 21 tackles, 10 unassisted and an interception returned for 18 yards. Borg was an outstanding backup on the 1971 National Title team.

1970 (Freshman)
Borg played on the freshman team. He played offense as a wingback and as a cornerback on defense. 

Personal
Randy was born in Alliance, Nebraska to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Borg. He was majoring in physical therapy and played high school football under former Husker Mike Kennedy.
