  • 1974 Second Team All-Big Eight (UPI)

1974 (Senior)
Don had a great year for the Huskers, earning second team All-Big Eight. Donny was Nebraska’s leading pass catcher with 35 grabs for 524 yards and seven touchdowns. In the contest against Kansas, Westbrook caught three touchdown passes, tying a Husker record. He also recorded 53 carries for 372 yards and three touchdowns. 

Don was the second leading scorer (60) and receiver (35) in the Big Eight. Don also doubled as a solid kick off returner, finishing fourth in total yards in the Big Eight (14 returns for 259 yards). Westbrook was a main reason why the Husker passing offense was first in the Big Eight (152.2 ypg) and Third in rushing (259.8 ypg). 

Donny was drafted in the sixth round of the 1975 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts (131st Overall). 

1973 (Junior)
Don switched to wingback after earning playing time at I-Back. He finished the season with seven rushing attempts for 54 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards. Donny helped the Huskers to a 9-2-1 record and a 19-3 Cotton Bowl win over Texas.

1972 (Sophomore)
Westbrook played I-Back his sophomore year, recording 39 rushing attempts for 198 yards and a touchdown. The Huskers finished with a 9-2-1 record and a dominating 40-6 win over Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.

1971 (Redshirt)
Don was a member of the 1971 varsity but did not see action. 

1970 (Freshman)
Westbrook was the leading rusher for the 1970 undefeated Husker freshman team (4-0).
