Bob Schmit

1973 (Senior)
Schmit was an alternate behind Bob Nelson at the weakside linebacker spot. As a senior, he had 24 total tackles; 11 unassisted and 13 assisted. He also broke up four passes. 

Bob helped the Huskers to the best pass defense in the Big Eight for the second straight year, only allowing 39.9 yards per game. Nebraska ranked second in total defense at 245.8 yards per game, behind only Oklahoma.

1972 (Junior)
Bob lettered with the 1972 Huskers in a reserve role. 

Nebraska had the best defense in the Big Eight, allowing just 219.2 yards per game. The Huskers ranked first in passing defense (106.5 ypg) and second in rushing defense (112.7 ypg).

Boys Town High School (Boys Town, Nebraska)
Bob was an All-State linebacker at Boys Town High School under Coach Skip Palrang. He was majoring in business administration and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmit.

Bob played with the Portland Storm of the World Football League before spending two seasons with the New York Giants.
