1972 (Senior)
Bill was an unsung hero of the Black Shirts, a two year starter and was named Co-Captain. Bills play earned him a spot in the 1973 NFL Draft, being picked in the 8th round by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Nebraska had the best defense in the Big Eight, allowing just 219.2 yards per game. The Huskers ranked first in passing defense (106.5 ypg) and second in rushing defense (112.7 ypg).
1971 (Junior)
Bill was a versatile athlete who won No. 1 and became a Husker standout. He was a fine defender against the run and a tough pass rusher.
Bill helped the Huskers to a dominant defensive season. Ranking first in the Big Eight in rushing (85.9 ypg), passing (117.0), scoring (8.2 ppg) and total defense (202.9 ypg). Nebraska finished with an undefeated record (13-0) and beat Alabama 38-6, in the National Championship game.
1970 (Sophomore)
Janssen sat out the ‘70 season due to a broken arm.
1969 (Freshman)
Bill lettered for the Huskers as a freshman defensive tackle.
Red River High School (Grand Forks, N. D.)
Janssen played high school football under Coach Dallas Kopp at Red River High School. He attended teachers college and is the son of Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) and Mrs. C.A. Janssen.
