Ryan Schommer did not play in a game in 2022.
2021 (Sophomore)
Schommer did not play in a game during the 2021 season.
2020 (Covid Season)
Schommer added depth to Nebraska's linebacking corps, but he did not play in a game as a sophomore.
2019 (Redshirt Freshman)
Schommer provided depth at outside linebacker as a redshirt freshman but did not appear in a game.
2018 (Redshirt)
Schommer redshirted in his first season at Nebraska in 2018 after joining the Huskers as a walk-on. He impressed during practice and was named the Huskers' Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year.
Before Nebraska (Norfolk HS)
Schommer walked on at Nebraska from Norfolk High School, where he played both defensive end and linebacker. He played in nine games as a senior and racked up 61 tackles, including 28 solo stops, with 2.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry. Schommer also played basketball at Norfolk. Following his prep career, Schommer represented the North Squad in the 2018 Nebraska Shrine Bowl.
Personal
Ryan is the son of Tom and Linn Schommer and he was born on Jan. 14, 2000. An advertising and public relations major, Ryan earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2022. He was one of the most active Huskers in the community, volunteering his time with the Belmont Community Center, Elliott Elementary Gift Giving, Husker Connect, the Nebraska Football Road Race and numerous hospital and school outreach visits. He was also a member of the Inner Circle, Nvolved, and the leadership team for the Nebraska Football Road Race.
