2022 (Junior)
Quinton Newsome started every game in 2022, extending his streak to 24 consecutive starts. He recorded 44 tackles with career highs of 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sack and 10 pass breakups, which led the team. Newsome was picked as an honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection by the conference coaches.

Newsome made four tackles, had a half tackle for loss and broke up a pass against Northwestern. The next week against North Dakota he recorded two tackles and added his first career quarterback hurry. Newsome recorded five tackles against No. 6 Oklahoma. He broke up two passes against Indiana nd had five tackles. He started at Rutgers but was injured early in the game and did not return. Newsome was back in the starting lineup the next week at Purdue, posting six tackles and a pair of pass breakups. He had four tackles against Illinois, including a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss, his second career sack and first career fumble recovery. Newsome's final tackle against the Illini was the 100th of his career. He had two tackles against Minnesota with one pass breakup. Newsome recorded two tackles at No. 3 Michigan. He had five tackles against Wisconsin. Newsome made a big impact in Nebraska's season-ending win at Iowa. He finished with three tackles and two pass breakups, but his biggest play was an eight-yard strip sack that resulted in a Husker takeaway.

2021 (Sophomore)
Newsome started all 12 games in 2021, recording career highs of 57 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and four pass breakups.

Newsome made the second start of his career at Illinois and finished with five tackles. He had five more tackles against Fordham, including a four-yard sack for his first career TFL. Newsome totaled three tackles in the win over Buffalo. He recorded seven tackles at Oklahoma - including 1.0 TFL - while breaking up the first pass of his career. 

Newsome made three tackles at No. 20 Michigan State and had five solo tackles in the win over Northwestern. Newsome had seven tackles against No. 9 Michigan and also broke up a pass. At Minnesota, Newsome totaled five tackles. He also made five tackles against Purdue.He totaled a career-high 10 tackles against No. 6 Ohio State. In the season finale against No. 17 Iowa, Newsome made a pair of solo tackles and had a career-high two pass breakups.

2020 (Covid Season)
Newsome played extensively in every game as a sophomore, contributing on defense and special teams. In the opener at No. 5 Ohio State, he recorded his first four career tackles, while also forcing a fumble that led to a Husker takeaway. Newsome made his first career start at Northwestern and finished with three tackles. He had one tackle each against Penn State, Illinois, Minnesota and Rutgers. Newsome finished the year with 11 tackles.

2019 (Freshman)
Newsome played in 10 games as a true freshman, contributing on both special teams and defense. In addition to appearing on special teams in each of his 10 games, Newsome also earned playing time on defense against Northern Illinois, Illinois, Ohio State and Maryland.

Before Nebraska (North Gwinnett HS)
Newsome played in Georgia’s largest class for North Gwinnett High School, the 2017 Class 7A state champions. In partial statistics from his senior season, when he was a first-team all-region pick, Newsome totaled 39 tackles with six passes defended, one interception and one forced fumble. He had 49 tackles, one tackle for loss, 10 passes defended and one interception as a junior for the state champion Bulldogs. Newsome registered 12 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery as a sophomore.

A three-star recruit, Newsome was ranked among the top 40 safety prospects nationally by Rivals. He only visited Nebraska but had offers from nearly two dozen schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Penn State and Stanford.

Personal
Quinton is the son of Stevie and Kimberly Newsome, and he was born on July 11, 2001. The sports media and communication major earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2023. Newsome has volunteered his time with the Belmont Community Center, the Nebraska Football Road Race, School is Cool and local hospital outreach.
