Princewill Umanmielen played in 11 games with one start during an impressive true freshman season. He produced 22 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack with four quarterback hurries and was named a second-team freshman All-American by The Athletic.

Umanmielen recorded one tackle in his debut at Minnesota and add another tackle at Colorado. Umanmielen recorded two tackles against Northern Illinois. Against No. 2 Michigan, Umanmielen made one tackle. He had a half tackle for loss at Illinois for his first career TFL. Against Northwestern, Umanmielen impressed with a career-high seven tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss and a five-yard sack. He made his first career start against Purdue and recorded two tackles with a two-yard tackle for loss. An injury kept Umanmielen out of the Michigan State game. He returned against Maryland and then recorded two tackles at Wisconsin. Umanmielen had five tackles, including a two-yard TFL, against Iowa.

Umanmielen was one of the nation’s top defensive line prospects while starring at Manor High School in Texas. The all-stater was a consensus pick as one of the top 250 recruits in the country.

Umanmielen had 130 tackles, 47.0 tackles for loss and 21.0 sacks over 23 games in his final two seasons at Manor. As a senior, Umanmielen recorded 65 tackles with 22.0 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks and one forced fumble. He was chosen as the district defensive lineman of the year as a senior. In his junior season, he totaled 65 tackles with 25.0 TFLs, 13.0 sacks and three forced fumbles. For his efforts, Umanmielen was named a first-team all-state pick and was the district co-defensive lineman of the year.

Umanmielen was ranked among the nation’s top 300 prospects by ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports and On3. He was listed among the nation’s top 20 edge rushers by Rivals. Umanmielen had numerous scholarship offers, including Florida, Ole Miss, TCU, Utah and Washington.

Princewill has two older brothers playing college football. Princely was a junior defensive lineman at Florida in 2023 and Prince was a senior defensive lineman at Tarleton State.
