Vincent Genatone Season 2024

Nebraska native Vince Genatone joined the Husker program in the summer of 2023 following two seasons at the University of Montana. A linebacker, Genatone was a multi-sport high school standout at North Platte High School.

Genatone redshirted at Montana in 2022, before playing on special teams in 2023, when he logged one tackle. Genatone was part of a Griz team that reached the FCS national championship game.

Genatone was named the Omaha World-Herald’s 2022 Male Athlete of the Year. In that year, he recorded 136 tackles as a linebacker for North Platte, while winning the 220-pound Class A wrestling title and running a 10.5 100-meter dash.

On the gridiron, Genatone earned first-team All-Nebraska honors from the World-Herald and was a Super State pick by the Lincoln Journal Star. Among his tackle totals, were 14.5 tackles for loss as a senior. On offense, he rushed for 911 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior season.

In addition to his wrestling state title as a senior, Genatone captured the 195-pound title as a junior, while lettering in track for the Bulldogs. Genatone had numerous other FCS scholarship offers and FBS walk-on opportunities, before selecting Montana out of high school.
