1978 (Senior)
Sorley was a starter for the Huskers at quarterback, and was one of the main reasons for Nebraska’s success in 1978. He passed for 1,791 yards and 14 touchdowns on 120 completions on 205 attempts. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.
1977 (Junior)
Sorley and Randy Garcia shared the starting quarterback spot, but Tom secured it against Oklahoma State and started the OSU, Missouri, Oklahoma and North Carolina contest. Against Oklahoma State, he was four of seven for 68 yards, while also carrying the ball 12 times for 55 yards and one touchdown, for that fine effort, he was the ABC-TV Offensive Player-of-the-Game and the Nebraska Player-of-the-Game in the Huskers 31-14 win at Stillwater. He helped the Huskers finish with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.
1976 (Sophomore)
Tom was a reserve letterman in 1976, while nursing a broken wrist suffered in the Spring. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.
1975 (Redshirt)
Tom redshirted his second season as a Husker.
1974 (Freshman)
Tom was the quarterback for the 1975 unbeaten freshman team.
Big Spring High School (Big Spring, Texas)
Tom was a star quarterback at Big Spring High School under Coach Bob Burris. Tom was majoring in accounting and is the son of Floyd and Bonnie Faye Sorley.
