  • 1978 First Team Academic All-Big Eight

1978 (Senior)
Tim was the starting left cornerback for the 1978 Huskers. Tim finished the season with 45 tackles, 30 unassisted, one tackle for a loss of a yard, two interceptions and a pass break up. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.

Tim is the eighth Fischer to play football at Nebraska. It started with Clete’s brothers Ken, Rex, Johnny, Jerry and Pat, who played with the Washington Redskins. Tim’s older brother Pat, was a graduate assistant and former Husker defensive back. 

1977 (Junior)
As a junior and a part-time starter, Tim had 15 tackles, six unassisted, one fumble recovery, one pass interception and one pass broken up. He helped the Huskers finish with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Sophomore)
Tim was an alternate letterman, he finished with three tackles and one fumble recovery. Tim helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.

1975 (Redshirt)
Fischer redshirted his second season as a Husker. 

1974 (Freshman)
Tim played with the ‘74 freshman team as a walkon. 

Lincoln Southeast High School (Lincoln, Nebraska)
Tim played his high school ball at Lincoln Southeast under Coach Frank Solich, past Husker fullback star. Tim was majoring in animal science and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Fischer.
