1976 (Senior)
Hoins was an experienced performer for the Husker line, earning second team All-Big Eight for the second straight year. Steve paired with Bob Lingenfelter to give the Huskers an excellent offensive tandem. Hoins helped the Huskers lead the Big Eight in passing offense, averaging 188.0 passing yards per game, while helping Nebraska quarterback Vince Ferragamo to lead the conference with 2,086 yards of total offense. Steve helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.
1975 (Junior)
Hoins earned second team All-Big Eight honors for his fine first year as a starter. Steve helped the Huskers to the best scoring offense in the Big Eight (32.1) and the second leading passing offense (158.4 ypg). The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.
1974 (Sophomore)
Steve backed up All-American Marvin Crenshaw. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and a Sugar Bowl win against Florida (13-10).
1973 (Redshirt)
Steve redshirted his second season as a Husker.
1972 (Freshman)
Steve was a standout offensive tackle on the freshman team.
Bellevue High (Bellevue, Nebraska)
Steve was a four-sport letter winner at Bellevue High, including honorable mention All-Metro Conference under Coach Bill James. Steve joins I-Back Monte Anthony to give Nebraska's offensive two starters from Bellevue High. Steve is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hoins.
