Scott Porter Season 1984

1984 (Senior)

Porter would alternate snaps with fellow fullback Tom Rathman throughout the season. Scott started the final two regular-season games for the Huskers. Porter would finish as the team’s No. 4 rusher with 221 yards on 45 attempts with an average of 4.9 yards per carry. The 6-0 220 pound fullback would score his only touchdown of his career on a 26-yard rushing touchdown against Minnesota. 

1983 (Junior)

Porter was listed as the No.4 fullback during his junior season (behind Mark Schellen, Tom Rathman, Tim Brungardt) Throughout his junior season he was able to muster up nine carries for 31 yards.

1982 (Sophomore)

Scott was a non-lettered reserve player. Serving as a reserve player for the entire season. Porter did get three carries for 17 yards during his sophomore season. 

1981 (Redshirt)

Scott Porter would redshirt in his second season with the Huskers in 1981.

1980 (Freshman)

Porter walked on for the Huskers’ 5-0 freshman team. Scott was labeled as an alternating fullback, rushing 34 times for 154 yards and four touchdowns. 

Personal 

Son of Morton Porter, Scott Porter was born on July 22,1962, in Nebraska City, Neb. Scott has one brother Budge and one sister Jane. Budge was on the Husker squad in the mid-1970s before suffering a crippling spine injury. Jane was a Husker cheerleader until her graduation in 1983. His father, Morton was a letterman at Guard for the Huskers in 1943. Scott enrolled at Nebraska as a business administration major.
