Scott Beckler Season 1989

1989 (Senior)
Beckler was Nebraska's No. 2 punter behind Stigge. Beckler saw action in two games as a senior, recording one punt for 34 yards and earned his first varsity letter. The Cornhuskers finished with a 10–2 record and earned a berth in the Fiesta Bowl against Florida State.

1988 (Junior)
Beckler was a reserve behind Kroeker, but did not punt because he broke his left upper arm in late October. The Cornhuskers posted an 11–2 record and earned a berth in the Orange Bowl against Miami.

1987 (Sophomore)
Beckler did not letter as a sophomore and did not record any punting stats.

1986 (Redshirt)
Beckler redshirted his second season at Nebraska.

1985 (Freshman)
Beckler was the starting punter for the 5-0 freshman team. He averaged 36.8 yards on 15 punts with a long punt of 55 yards. 

Grand Island Senior High School
Scott played for Coach Ken Fischer's Islanders, playing halfback and safety while also handling punting and place-kicking duties. As a senior in 1984, he rushed for 775 yards and eight touchdowns, recorded 45 tackles on defense, and averaged 42.5 yards per punt. His senior performance earned him honorable mention all-state honors at halfback and all-conference recognition on offense, defense, and as a kicker. He capped his high school career with a 145 yard rushing performance in a state playoff game against Omaha Burke. In addition to football, Scott lettered in both track and basketball.

Beckler was a business education major. The son of Al and Judy Beckler. Scott was born in Grand Island Nebraska.
