1976 (Senior)
Ron came back to lead all lineman in tackles (74), and recovered two fumbles. In 1976, he duplicated his ‘74 feat of marking both second team All-Big Eight and Honorable Mention All-American. Like his fellow defensive tackle, Mike Fults, Ron was a three-year starter. He also earned All-Big Eight academic honors. Ron helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.
1975 (Junior)
Ron missed the 1975 season because of a broken ankle, which required surgery that he received that September in fall camp. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.
1974 (Sophomore)
Ron finished the season with 79 total tackles and seven stops behind the line for 47 yards, Pruitt earned Honorable Mention All-American and second team All-Big Eight honors. As a sophomore starter, Ron recovered four fumbles. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and a Sugar Bowl win against Florida (13-10).
1973 (Freshman)
Ironically, Pruitt was an offensive line standout on the freshman team.
Centennial High School (Compton, California)
Ron was a football performer at Centennial High School under Coach Paul Washington. Ron was majoring in criminal justice and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds D. Pruitt.
