Reg Gast

1977 (Senior)
Reg finished his senior season with one pass break up. The Huskers finished with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Junior)
Reg was the Huskers No. 3 left defensive end for Nebraska. He lettered as a reserve, and was one of the many Husker heroes during Nebraska’s 27-24 win over Texas Tech in the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl. Gast recovered Tech’s late fourth quarter fumble that sealed the victory for Nebraska. 

In ‘76, he had 22 total tackles, including 14 solo, an interception and dropped opposing players behind the line five times for a loss of 26 yards. Gast helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record. 

1975 (Sophomore)
Reg was a member of the 1975 varsity. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.

1974 (Redshirt)
Gast redshirted his second season as a Husker. 

1973 (Freshman)
Reg was a standout player on the undefeated 1974 freshman team. 

Lincoln East High School (Lincoln, Neb.)
Reg was an All-State football performer under Coach Leroy Zentic, former Husker star. Reg was majoring in economics and is the son of Rolland and Mary Jean Gast.
