1989 (Senior)
Randall “Cowboy” Jobman earned honorable-mention All-Big Eight honors from the conference coaches while starting three games at strong-side linebacker for the Huskers. Jobman split time with fellow honorable-mention All-Big Eight inside linebacker Mike Petko. One of four team captains chosen prior to the start of the season, alongside offensive tackle Doug Glaser, quarterback Gerry Gdowski and linebacker Jeff Mills, Jobman totaled 28 tackles, including 11 solos, over 10 regular-season games. He capped the regular season with a career-high 12 stops (six solos) in Nebraska’s 42-25 win over Oklahoma at Memorial Stadium (Nov. 18). Jobman was Nebraska’s Big Eight Defensive Player-of-the-Week nominee for his performance. The victory was Nebraska’s 103rd in the 1980s, tying Alabama’s NCAA record for most wins in a decade.

In his career, Jobman totaled 77 tackles (36 solos) over 32 regular-season games. He added three PBUs and, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble. He added one unassisted tackle in the 1988 Fiesta Bowl and another solo in the 1989 Orange Bowl.

1988 (Junior)
Jobman recorded 29 tackles, including 15 solos, while adding a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup to help the Huskers lead the Big Eight in rushing defense (127.9 ypg), passing defense (134.8 ypg) and total defense (262.8 ypg) on their way to an unbeaten conference season and the Big Eight title. An alternate behind two-time All-Big Eight strong-side linebacker LeRoy Etienne, Jobman started in a win over UNLV when Etienne was suspended. Jobman started again the following week in a win over Kansas. He notched season bests of four tackles on three occasions (UCLA, Oklahoma State, Iowa State). Jobman played in every regular-season game and the 1989 Orange Bowl against Miami.

1987 (Sophomore)
Jobman played in 10 regular-season games, finishing with 20 tackles (10 solos) while causing a fumble and breaking up two passes on the year for a defense that ranked among the top 20 nationally in rushing, passing, scoring and total defense.

1986 (Redshirt)
He redshirted in his second season at Nebraska while making the move to inside linebacker.

1985 (Freshman)
Jobman started at linebacker for the 5-0 Husker freshman team, recording 15 tackles. He also saw limited action in four games with the Big Red varsity but did not earn a letter.

1984
Jobman signed a national-letter-of-intent with Nebraska in February, but lost his right thumb in a rodeo accident on July 1. Surgeons at a Denver hospital were able to reattach the appendage, but Jobman sat out the fall semester of 1984 before enrolling at NU in January of 1985.

Garden County High School
Jobman played eight-man football for Coach Doug Leopold at the Oshkosh, Neb., school. He was a two-time all-state selection and an honorable-mention high school All-American.

The son of Vernon Jobman, Randall was born in Dalton, Neb. He was an agriculture major at Nebraska.
