Before Nebraska (Centennial HS/Utah/San Diego State)
Owen Chambliss spent one season at Utah (2023) and two seasons at San Diego State (2024-25) before transferring to Nebraska. In his time at Utah and San Diego State, Chambliss played in 25 games with 20 starts, totaling 142 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks with five pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recovery.
In 2025, Chambliss started all 13 games for a San Diego State defense that ranked seventh nationally in scoring defense and 12th in total defense. He led the Aztecs with 110 tackles and ranked third with 9.5 tackles for loss while adding 4.0 sacks. Chambliss was a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2025, the only underclassmen on the first-team defense. As a redshirt freshman in 2024, Chambliss started seven games – missing five games due to injury – and recorded 31 tackles with one pass breakup. He began his career at Utah, playing in four games while redshirting in 2023, when he recorded one tackle.
Prior to Utah, Chambliss starred for Centennial High School in California. As a senior, Chambliss made 43 tackles with 3.0 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, five interceptions, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. A three-star prospect, Chambliss was a first-team All-CIF selection in addition to earning first-team all-section honors and league MVP. He was also a member of Centennial’s 2021 CIF championship team.
