1983 (Senior)
Mason rushed for 222 yards on 35 carries for a 6.3 average and a pair of touchdowns in 1983. Threw the air, Mason completed 4 of 9 passes for 65 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Mason proved to be a solid backup to Turner Gill at quarterback thorughout the 1983 season.
1982 (Senior/Medical Redshirt)
The best rushing day of Mason's career came his junior season against Florida State in his first collegiate start (a 34-14 Husker win). He ran for 63 yards and one touchdown, and he started the next week against Penn State, but aggravated an old ankle injury and missed the rest of the season after surgery to remove calcium deposits. He was granted a medical hardship since he only played in three games.
1981 (Junior)
Mason contributed to the rushing attack of the Husker offense with 23 rushes for 86 yards and 1 touchdown. Through the air, he he completed 5 of 14 passes for 91 yards.
1980 (Sophomore)
Mason contributed to the 1981 Husker rushing attack on the season with 23 rushes for 99 yards averaging 4.3 yards. He also had 5 passing attempts, with 1 completion for 14 yards.
1979 (Freshman)
Mason started for the Husker freshman team in 1979 at quarterback. Mason lead the team in passing (15-30 for 346 yards, no interceptions, and two touchdowns) and scoring (30 points) while rushing 42 times for 144 yards and five TD's.
At Greenville HS
Mason was an all-district and all-city selection at Greenville High School, where he teammed with former Husker split end, Ricky Simmons.
Personal
Mason was the fastest quarterback on the 1983 squad with a 40 time of 4.74. He was born Oct. 26, 1960.
